| I'm thrilled to say that I definitely left my mark on France. It may seem a little weird but I'm pleased to some extent that I caused the French Revolution, only because it means my name will be featured in textbooks years to come. However I fear that my happiness will be short lived because as I stare out of the castle windows and look at the people of France I see not smiles on their faces but a sort of strange determination in their eyes instead. I take responsibility for this revolution because had I not been so quick to throw away money with my shopping sprees and card games, taxes would not have been and tempers would not have flared. I know a revolution is in the mix but i still cant help spending money even now. I believe there's no point in crying over spilled milk so I guess that there's no point in becoming hysterical just yet...I'll wait a while and see what happens first. | | |
| The French Revolution began on July 14, 1789 and ended July 28, 1794. There were plenty of important people associated with the revolution excluding myself. There was my husband king Louis XV1,Maximilien Robespierre and Napolean Bonaparte. During the early stages of the French Revolution a National Assembly was created. They passed many laws. The same way there were important people, there were important places in the French Revolution. The main place however was Bastille, a prison in Paris. For the French people it symbolized their power, and so much more. July 14 ( the day this prison became a symbol) would forever be remembered in France. To tell you the truth I never truly understood why this prison was so special. If they wanted to make a symbol out of something why a prison and not something more beautiful? The first Treaty of Paris signed in 1763 gave the French empire in India and North America to the British. This was a national humiliation and a big economic blow to the French middle class. My husband refused to follow the advice of his ministers that he needed to make new reforms. By the refusal he brought our country to the verge of revolution. The American Revolution had been expensive for us. We had given money to aid the Americans and my husband 's treasury was emptied in 1787. our country won victories on the battlefield, but soon our financial affairs were in a bad state and our country continued to be threatened by enemies. Our people started to believe that a stronger central government was needed. | | |
| My name is Marie Antoinette. I was the queen of France. I lived during the years of the French Revolution and also died because of it, though I wasn't a martyr of anything like that. Since I was queen I was accustomed to beautiful and expensive things so I brought alot and was a big part of the falling economy of France. I was wed to my husband in hope to forming a alliance with my country and in his but it never really worked out the way it should. I never cared much about what hapeened in France, I left all the hard for my husband King Louis XVI. I had all this money and all this power but all I used it for was to have fun. I was a bit like the Paris Hilton of my time. I was even involved in quite a few scandals. One known as the Diamond Necklace and rumors concerning my relations with officers of the guard and with Hans Axel Fersen. At the end of it all myself and my husband were accused of treson. He was executed, I was beheaded after being found guilty when tried before the Revolutionary Tribunal and my son Louis XVII was tken rom me. Who would've thought I would be treated so badly after I negotiated with important people in the French Revolution on behalf of France and tried to get Austrian Intervention? Though my life was hectic, it certainly was exciting. I lived from 1755-1793. | | |
